This Casio Men’s WVM120J-1 Solar Atomic Resin Strap Watch review by ReNeS.
This watch is for someone who is looking for a budget watch that packs a lot of nice features. Me personally, I bought it as my third watch for when I go exercise outside or wash my car.

1. For the price, it isn’t going to be luxurious for sure. However, it’s well made. The metal frame on its face really save it from looking “too cheap”. The strap is made of resin so the watch is extremely light. This made it perfect so it doesn’t strain your wrist when you are working outdoor. Its mineral dial is scratch resistance. I’ve been wearing it for some time and I still don’t see any scratch on it.

2. It’s powered by solar cell on its face. There is so much argument as to how long the capacitor inside would last so I’m not going to say it will never stop but it should work well for many years. I can tell you this much. It will charge even with indoor lights. It seems to be using very little energy and with power saver function, I don’t even have to worry about trying to put it out to sunlight. One full charge should last approx. 5 months according to its manual. Mine shows it has “medium” level all the time and it never goes dead.

3. Its atomic timekeeping function works great. Technically, it’s radio-controlled watch. It receives signal and sync with the atomic clock in Colorado every night. It even set itself correctly for DST. You can manually sync it too. Its multi-band 5 function means it can even receive calibration signal in Japan and Germany (Europe too? probably?). Even when it doesn’t receive the signal, the quartz system inside it ensures its accuracy.

– Here is the catch regarding atomic timekeeping. I had to try different location in my apartment to put it every night when I first got it to ensure it has good enough reception to sync. I’d think any place close to the window works fine. Once you found it though, you just have to put it there every night and forget about it.

4. It has stopwatch, countdown timer and 5 alarms with one repeatable alarm.

5. Second timezone function is very nice, too bad you have to navigate away from the default display to see it.

6. Last but not least, instead of using one of those stupid little light bulbs that break all the time, it uses “Electro Illumination” (not sure if I get the term correct). The backlight illuminates the whole dial face which makes it very easy to read even in total darkness. The Auto EL function means it will light up automatically whenever you tilt your hand to read the time.

Like any multifunction watch, I urge you to read its manual before using it. It will help you set up your watch with little headache. All in all, for the price… seriously, what more could you ask from it?, in Casio Men’s WVM120J-1 Solar Atomic Resin Strap Watch

I’ve had the watch about two months and I really don’t think you can beat the value of this watch. It’s a very nice looking watch, kind of sporty yet kind of casual. It has so many features which are very easy to use. They sure pack a lot of information on that little screen which makes the watch kind of fun. Like a little gadget. The directions are a little small though.

It came with the battery in the M range. After the fist day it went to the H, and has been there since. It will be interesting to see what it does in the winter months. It is very cool not having to worry about the battery running down.

Once you figure out how to use the alarm or stop watch, I found this watch easier and nicer to use than my previous Nike watches I have owned. I didn’t think it was a big deal at first, but now that I have the five alarms and don’t have to worry about the batter, I find that I use them quite a bit. It’s also quicker to reset the stopwatch or timer and set the alarms than in my previous watches.

The same goes for the light. No need to worry about the battery, so use it as often as you need. I was camping one night and used the light close to 10 times, and the battery remained in the H indicator.

The atomic time update is cool too. The directions say that you need to put it in a window to get it updated, however I was surprised one morning when I noticed I had received an update with the watch in my basement where I have my bedroom. It seems like it just needs to be facing the right way. I’m not sure how that works, but it has been getting a signal down there every night now.

Great watch at a great price. I’m tempted to buy another just in case something happens to this one.
